It's never easy to work with antique furniture and pictures without being intimidated by their history (and price), slipping into an 'adequate and traditional style'.
My goal in this case was to try to find a way of obtaining a fairly contemporary look while retaining a connection with the past. I found the solution in a subtley designed wainscoating.
